Expenses for August were relatively high, so It took a longer time to check the figures. Carried forward from June and July, the income for August was HK$ 55,430.2 (USD$ 7,490.58) and expenses were HK$ 44,001.2 (USD$ 5,946.11). Our main source of the income was the Chinese-English translation charity project ‘Freedom Translator’.
501(c)(3) Tax-exempt Organization
After several months of research and pricing, we have appointed a US law firm to handle the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization application. The legal fee was US$ 2,500 (HK$ 19,500), of which US$ 600 (HK$ 4,680) was paid for the IRS filing fee.
‘Freedom Translators’ In August, the project ‘Freedom Translators’ generated an income of HK$ 16,123.86 (US$ 2,178.9), of which HK$ 8,241.3 (US$ 1,113.69) was given to six translators who participated in the translation projects. Since the jobs were awarded in a first-come-first-served basis, and the studying and working schedules of the translators were different, so the aforementioned HK$ 8,241.3 was not evenly distributed to them. The more work the translators did, the more pay they would receive. Having other commitments, some of them took up fewer jobs and thus ended up with less pay. The remaining income of HK$ 7,882.56 (US$ 1,065.21) was claimed for the reimbursement of expenses for the translation of the 721 Foundation’s documents and promotional materials, as well as our daily operation cost. The balance has already been deposited into the bank account of the 721 Foundation
As of today (5 September 2020), the balance of our bank account was HK$ 11,938.27 (US$ 1,613.28).
